My brother lies in the cold earth

My brother lies in the cold earth
By Whittaker Chambers
Some time after September 26, 1926

My brother 1 lies in the cold earth,
A cold rain is overhead.
My brother lies in the cold earth,
A sheet o f ice is over his head.
The cold earth holds him round;
A sheet of ice is over his face.
My brother has no more
The cold rain to face. 2
