President Eisenhower addresses the United Nations in 1958

A UN speech by President Dwight Eisenhower sparked Whittaker Chambers to express continued concerns for crises in the Middle East, which he connected to the “Communist advance” stretching from “the Lebanon” to “Quemoy” (Kinmen, an island forming part of the Republic of China or Taiwan).
